NEXTGen Detroit is seeking a Director to provide vision and leadership for the Detroit Jewish community’s young adult engagement program, focused on ages 21-39. Reporting to the Senior Director of Community Development, the Director will oversee the strategic planning and execution of outreach, engagement, fundraising, and leadership development for the young adult community. An ideal candidate brings a strong presence, energy, and charisma, with an inclination towards community immersion and leadership.

NEXTGen Detroit is seeking a Director to provide vision and leadership for the Detroit Jewish community’s young adult engagement program, focused on ages 21-39. Reporting to the Senior Director of Community Development, the Director will oversee the strategic planning and execution of outreach, engagement, fundraising, and leadership development for the young adult community. An ideal candidate brings a strong presence, energy, and charisma, with an inclination towards community immersion and leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
• Implement NEXTGen Detroit operational and strategic plan; including management of a $1M budget
• Oversee department staff and manage a team of direct 6 reports; foster a growth-centric environment that will develop individual contributors toward synergies across NEXTGen Detroit
• Envision and implement cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans targeting existing and prospective donors
• Oversee solicitation efforts within NEXTGen Detroit demographics with an aim towards growing the donor base and contributing $1M+ to the Federation Annual Campaign
• Collaborate closely with internal departments and senior lay leadership to define and meet key goals
• Coordinate donor engagement and programming for NEXTGen Detroit constituencies
• Identify and build relationships with key stakeholders, including the NEXTGen Detroit Board, prospective donors, corporate and community partners
• Lead the NEXTGen Detroit Board in development processes, leadership succession and engagement
• Maintain accountability across organizational systems, including Microsoft Office Suite, JFNA Blackbaud, and Asana (training support provided)
• Travel within the Detroit metro area for NEXTGen Detroit stakeholder meetings

Qualifications & Skills:
• 5+ years of leadership experience in nonprofit sector or related field
• Successful track record of soliciting $1,000+ gifts a plus
• Significant supervisory experience and ability to provide timely feedback
• Detail-oriented self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage simultaneous deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; sophisticated interpersonal skills
• Skilled in building authentic relationships and inspiring confidence within teams and donors
• Ability to work some evenings and weekends
• Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite; CRM experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Knowledge of the Jewish community, culture, customs, and practices strongly preferred
• Prior experience in the young adult space is a plus
